Only a few striking differences between religions and the gospel can help us with the question of truth:

  1. In all religions, man tries to reach God on his own, but no seeker can truly testify, “I have found a personal relationship with God, I have peace in my heart, my guilt is forgiven, I have the assurance of eternity. life.”” In the gospel of Jesus Christ, God addresses us. With the cross he closes the gap of sin and gives us redemption. Anyone who accepts this can testify: “For I am sure that neither death nor life can separate us from the love of God” (Romans 8:38-39).
  2. The prophetic announcements of the savior in the Old Testament (e.g. Genesis 3:15; Num. 24:17; Isaiah 11:1-2; Isaiah 7:14) are literally fulfilled. In no religion are there such prophecies with announcement and fulfillment.
  3. God has condemned all religions as idolatry and sorcery (1 Cor. 6:9-10; Gal. 5:19-21; Rev. 21:8). None of the many religions has any saving character (Gal 5:19-21). If there were any that could save, then Jesus would have recommended it to us and would not have had to suffer the bitter death of the cross. But the Son of God went to the cross to obtain the only possibility of salvation. That is why he said, “Go into all the world and proclaim it to all peoples!”
  4. God authenticated the sacrifice of Jesus Christ by his resurrection from the dead (Romans 4:24-25). It is the only permanently empty tomb in the history of the world: “Why seek ye the living among the dead? he is not here; he is risen” (Luke 24:5-6). All the founders of religions died and remained dead. Only Jesus could say: “I live, and you shall live also” (John 14:19).
  5. In all religions man tries to redeem himself through his actions. The gospel, on the other hand, is the act of God (Isaiah 43:24b; John 3:16). Man can contribute nothing to the work of redemption on Golgotha: we were bought with a price (1 Cor 6:20).
  6. Religions assume a false image of humanity and also paint a false image of God. Only the Bible tells us who we are and who God is. We cannot change ourselves to please God, because “we fall short of the glory that is fitting in the sight of God” (Romans 3:23).
  7. In no religion does God leave heaven to save man. In Jesus, God became man: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).

Therefore, Jesus Christ is not an alternative to religion. He is its rejection and rejection. He is the only way home: to the Father’s house of God (John 14:6).
